High winds, smoke from three fires and changing light all contributed to making this a 3 day plein air painting. Although the trees have matured and somewhat block the viewit is an excellent spot to paint! It is said that this iconic photo helped convince Teddy Roosevelt to create the National Parks and a copy was sent to outer space to represent the world.
